10-20- “Movies in the Park returns to Fernandez Park on Friday, October 20, 2023, for a special Halloween feature, “Hotel Transylvania”. Spooky treats will be provided. Pinole City Council meeting, 10-17-23

To start, there are 3 closed session items- a conference with labor negotiators (management compensation plan), a conference with labor negotiators (Interim city manager), and a public employment item (City Manager).

There are 6 proclamations- for Breast Cancer Awareness month, Indigenous Peoples day, Hispanic Latinx Heritage month, LGBTQIA+ History month, Filipino History month, and Fire Prevention week.

On the consent calendar, there’s the normal minutes and warrants, along with a resolution to implement the agreed healthcare payments from the city to its various bargaining units, an amendment of the procurement policy to include union printer purchasing preference, a letter of support for AB 40 regarding ambulance patient offload time, placing liens for unpaid waste collection charges, declaring 3 police vehicles as surplus and authorizing disposal by auction, and approving the continued rain for rent at the corner of Bay View and Pinion for a cost not to exceed $50,000.

Finally, under old business there’s adoption of a policy on sister cities, and discussion of an environmentally preferable purchasing policy and program. The policy item is continued to a future meeting.

Pinole Senior Food Program, 10-10-23

Tuesday, 10-10- Senior Food Program, Pinole Senior Center, in Person 10 AM- 11 AM.
 “The Pinole Senior Center will be partnering with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County on their Senior Food Program. Low-income senior citizens 55+ will be able to receive free groceries, including healthy pantry staples, eggs, cheese and assorted meats twice a month. The time for the distribution is 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

If you are interested in the program all individuals must complete the Senior Food Program Application. Applications are available on the City of Pinole website via the Senior Center page: https://www.ci.pinole.ca.us/city_government/senior_center

In addition, applications are available at the Front Desk of the Senior Center and can be submitted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am – 1 pm. Applications can also be submitted on the day of the food pick up. Individuals must bring proof of age such as an ID or Driver’s License and proof of home address which can be a PG&E bill, water bill, or statement listing out the name and residence of the individual. National Night Out Pinole- 10-3-23

Tomorrow, 10-3- National Night Out, 5-8 PM, Fernandez Park. “Please join us on Tuesday, October 3rd, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Fernandez Park for our annual National Night Out. This year, we will host another Halloween-themed event! We will have games, pumpkin painting, food trucks, a costume contest, a haunted house, and more!
