Wednesday, 11-15- United We Heal, Pinole Senior Center, in Person 6-7:30 PM. “Join us for a soothing experience at the Pinole Senior Center led by Planted Energy <https://www.plantedenergy.com>. This sound bath session will be a guided meditation focused on unity and will foster spiritual healing from the painful impacts of hate in our society. Immerse yourself in the healing power of sound, as gentle vibrations wash away stress and promote relaxation. This in-person event is a unique opportunity to connect with your community and embrace the power of collective healing.

No prior experience is necessary, just bring an open mind and a willingness to let go. This event requires a still, quiet space and is intended for adults and children ages10 and up. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Bring your own mat (yoga mat or blanket), wear comfortable clothing, and arrive early to settle into your space.

All participants will receive a special plant gift to take home. Supportive resources from CA vs. Hate will be available.

Senior Food Program, 11-14-23

Tomorrow, 11-14- Senior Food Program, Pinole Senior Center, in Person 10 AM- 11 AM.
 “The Pinole Senior Center will be partnering with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County on their Senior Food Program. Low-income senior citizens 55+ will be able to receive free groceries, including healthy pantry staples, eggs, cheese and assorted meats twice a month. The time for the distribution is 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

If you are interested in the program all individuals must complete the Senior Food Program Application. Applications are available on the City of Pinole website via the Senior Center page: https://www.ci.pinole.ca.us/city_government/senior_center

In addition, applications are available at the Front Desk of the Senior Center and can be submitted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am – 1 pm. Applications can also be submitted on the day of the food pick up. Individuals must bring proof of age such as an ID or Driver’s License and proof of home address which can be a PG&E bill, water bill, or statement listing out the name and residence of the individual. Drive-Through Produce distribution, 11-13-23

Today, 11-13- General Produce distribution, Pinole Senior Center, in Person 9 AM- 11 AM. “The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County will be providing bags of fresh produce every second Monday of the month from 9 AM to 11 AM (or as supplies last) at the Pinole Senior Center parking lot, 2500 Charles Ave. You do NOT need to be a member of the Pinole Senior Center or a senior to receive food. Quantities are limited. First come first serve. One bag of produce per household. This will be a contact-less event, please follow the directions from staff and volunteers when you arrive. Parking or exiting your vehicle will not be allowed. Please open your vehicle’s trunk when you enter the parking lot. Food items will be placed in the trunk only by staff/volunteers. To start, there are 3 closed session items- conference with labor negotiators on interim city manager, public employment on city manager, and conference with legal counsel on litigation with MVP construction.

For proclamations, there’s United against Hate Week, Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, Shelter in Place Education Day, Native American Heritage Month, Sikh Awareness Month, and World Town Planning Day. There is also a presentation from CA vs Hate Initiative which you can find here.

Then there’s the consent calendar- There’s the normal minutes and warrants, a resolution authorizing the city manager to buy 2 new patrol cars ($105k), reports on the first quarter status of the Capital Improvement Plan projects, the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, the Fiscal Year(FY) 2023/24 Q1 Financial report, the FY2023/24 Q1 investment report, a determination of public convenience or necessity for selling alcoholic products at the shell store located at 1401 Fitzgerald drive, and finally declaring various end of life vehicles as surplus.

There is one old business item- adopting a Project Labor Agreement with the Contra Costa Building and Construction council.

There are 2 items under new business- Long-term financial plan strategies (or, how we can start to deal with the 100 million dollar net deficit Pinole will have in its general fund balance by 2040 (page 213 of the agenda packet), including a presentation on those strategies you can find here. The last item is considering adjusting the Mayoral rotation on the council- how exactly is unclear.

Thursday, 10-26- Climate Action and Adaptation Workshop, Pinole Library, City Hall, Senior Center in person 10 AM-6 PM. “Three pop-up workshops will be held on Thursday, October 26th at Pinole Library, City Hall, and Senior Center with drop-in hours from 10am-6pm. The pop-ups will provide an opportunity to rank measures in building decarbonization, transportation, water conservation, energy conservation, climate resilience and more by your level of support to make for an implementable and actionable Plan.
